I like,
(love) dogs with floopy ears
striking things off of a to-do list
writing with fountain pens and watching the ink dry
well-made movies
monsoons
receiving letters
less-than-hot cup of black coffee
the way podcasters modulate the tone of their voice (also why I’m terrible at listening to what they’re saying)
I’m often found talking animatedly around good food and card/board games. Also often found spaced out in a dimly-lit room with music plugged in, weaving thought plots.
I grudgingly enjoy the discomfort of learning new things, and set new challenges for myself almost constantly. Last year, I finished learning French (over a period of 2 years!) and on paper am at level B2 (that’s not to mention the crippling anxiety I felt when it came to conversing in French with native speakers on a recent trip to Paris). 🫠
Here are some current things I’m challenging myself with:
Making time for more consistent workouts, and/or cooking.
Reading a little before bed (even if it’s just 1 page).
I’m currently listening to Quiet by Susan Cain
And also flipping through the paperback copy of Star of the Sea by Joseph O'Connor.
I’m a part of LXD Lab and we’re working on a handbook on motivation set in the Indian context (more to come soon!)
Self-teaching how to play the ukulele
Since this is a space where I’ll be talking about learning and education, I should probably share some context around what I do for a living, how I reached this point and why I can talk about learning with some confidence.
I’ve been professionally engaged with the domain of education since 2016. It started with a fellowship within the Indian public schooling system where I was facilitating activity-based workshops for school-going children to unpack life skills with them. I like to think of this fellowship with Apni Shala Foundation, as very formational for me because not only did it prepare me for what I do even today, but it also propelled me into pursuing a Master of Arts, Education from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. I write more about my experience during the fellowship on Apni Shala’s blog.
Since completing my Masters in 2019, I’ve been working in the edtech space, primarily as a facilitator and learning experience designer. To understand what I do now, check out my LinkedIn profile. I would love to connect with you there❣️
